Sherlock star Benedict Cumberbatch has joined the cast of Steve McQueen’s 12 Years A Slave, and will appear alongside Michael Fassbender and Brad Pitt!
The movie will also star Michael Fassbender, Brad Pitt and Chiwetel Ejiofor. 12 Years will see Ejiofor pay Solomon Northrup (whose tome the film is based on), a free man who is kidnapped and sold into slavery. Cumberbatch will play a plantation owner whom purchases the Northrup and is impressed by his engineering skills.
According to Variety, the project will be going into production at the end of this month with Steve McQueen helming a script he co-wrote with Red Tails‘ John Ridley. No release date has been set.
