The Avengers: Age of Ultron’s release date in China has finally been agreed upon by Marvel, and China will be able to watch The Avengers’ sequel on May 12, 2015.

The Avengers: Age of Ultron has finally passed censorship in China, with Marvel’s massively anticipated sequel to The Avengers starring Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, and more being released officially on May 12.

China is the second biggest film market, behind only North America, and the country’s moviegoers really seem to love superhero movies. The Avengers made $84 million in China in 2012, beating out the U.K., with its third highest total of $80M.

Another interesting thing to consider about Marvel’s future in China’s market is that the country’s favorite superhero is Spider-Man. The web-slinger is massively popular in the country, and with Spider-Man being added to either Captain America: Civil War, or The Avengers: Infinity War films, China is going to continue to be the biggest market for most of Marvel’s films outside of North America. Iron Man 3 made $121 million in China, breaking all sorts of records, and an alternate cut of the film was released specifically for the Chinese audience.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 set a single-day record during its release in China this past year, and it ended up totalling $94 million dollars at China’s box office. So, we expect the addition of Spider-Man to Marvel’s films to make a huge impact on Marvel’s box office totals in China over the next few years.

The Avengers: Age of Ultron’s final trailer was released recently, featuring our first look at Ultron. Be sure to watch it below in case you missed the incredibly exciting teaser.

The Avengers: Age of Ultron’s first trailer was incredibly well received, with a much darker tone than expected, and the second trailer followed a similar path. The third, and possibly final, trailer continues the dark tone, but certainly ramps up the excitement.

Expect an enormous amount of promotion for Avengers: Age of Ultron during the next two months, as we approach the film’s U.S. release on May 1 and now China’s release on May 12. The Avengers’ sequel may very well be the most anticipated sequel of all time, especially for Marvel fans, and the studio will be going all out with Age of Ultron promotion over the next few weeks.

The Avengers: Age of Ultron will be released in theaters in the U.S. on May 1, 2015, with its follow-up being Avengers: Infinity War, which has been split into two parts and will be directed by Anthony and Joe Russo.
