The fourth season of Arrow has been a roller coaster for Felicity. But fans can expect yet more ups and downs for her as the season moves toward its conclusion.
Arrow executive producer Marc Guggenheim tweeted out a picture that caught the attention of Olicity fans:
Not a dream sequence. Not a hallucination. Not an alternate reality. Not a flash forward to a potential future. pic.twitter.com/RfvpKmmjOk

So yes, the Olicity wedding is a go.
Also note in this image that Felicity is standing. Curtis’ spinal implant is apparently successful. Rickards tells EW this was a necessity of the show’s pacing. Of Felicity’s paralysis, Rickards says, “We don’t really have the time to make it a long process on our show, especially because we’re coming up to the last five episodes or so of shooting. We hope it doesn’t seem like a shock to the audience, but we really did want her to be able to walk again and start a second new chapter.”
For many, this is a disappointing turn of events, as it’s unclear what the point of having Felicity be wheelchair-bound for a handful of episodes before moving on is.
As for what’s next for Felicity, Rickards says, “She takes on life now with a new goal, so she starts working on something else. She doesn’t necessarily want to be working at Palmer Tech in the day and giving her life to the team at night. She wants to make a difference in the world, which is what she’s always wanted. She seems to have maybe forgot that that’s why she started living this life in the first place.”
The returned use of her legs “reignites that for her. It’s like she made a New Year’s resolution with being able to walk again. It’s like a new year for her.”
However, despite this positive turn of events for Felicity, things won’t all be rosy for her and Oliver; Felicity is set to find out about William, the son Oliver has been keeping a secret. Rickards says this storyline “puts a big stake in their relationship. It makes it known that she doesn’t really know 100 percent who she’s in a relationship with. I think that that scares her and makes her untrusting whether she should have more leeway with him at this point. It hurts her pretty bad.”
Considering Felicity isn’t wearing her ring in the funeral flash forward, perhaps she is unable to trust Oliver after all. There will undoubtedly be more twists and turns before the grave reveal happens, though, so who knows what could cause the distance that appears between Oliver and Felicity in that scene.
Arrow airs Wednesdays at 8:00 p.m. ET on The CW.
