The CW has released our first look at Arrow‘s Ray Palmer in his A.T.O.M. suit.
Ray Palmer (Brandon Routh) has been working on creating a super suit in this season of Arrow, and in the last episode, Felicity helped him with a snag he found in the technology. And now we have a look at Routh in the full A.T.O.M. suit:
The A.T.O.M. suit will debut in Arrow season 3, episode 15, “Nanda Parbat,” which will air on February 25.
“Ray’s the first technology-based hero that we’ve done,” says Arrow executive producer Marc Guggenheim. “Our heroes, on Arrow at least, tend to be very sort of fisticuff-oriented. Ray is trying something brand new, also brand new for us too. He’s creating what we call the Super Suit, the A.T.O.M. suit that is really at the cutting edge of technology, both in the real world and on the show.
“He’s also going to have to discover that a super suit does not a hero make. Part of the thing that we’re always trying to be true to is putting on a costume is the easy part. It’s being the hero that’s the really difficult part and one does not mean you’ve accomplished the other.”
Routh, alongside Arrow costar Emily Bett Rickards (Felicity Smoak), will appear on The Flash later this season — in an episode appropriately titled “All Star Team-Up,” when Ray needs help with his suit and finds it at S.T.A.R. Labs. This episode is currently shooting. Flash star Grant Gustin posted this from his Instagram today, teasing the team-up:
Says EP Andrew Kreisberg of the crossover: “Ray Palmer is all about technology and S.T.A.R. Labs is all about technology. We get to see Ray so happy to be in S.T.A.R. Labs… With Cisco (Carlos Valdes) and Ray, they’re new best friends. The S.T.A.R. Labs team is going to help Ray further his A.T.O.M. project.”
Arrow airs Wednesdays at 8:00 p.m. ET on The CW.
