Amazon’s Wheel of Time adaptation has added Priyanka Bose, Taylor Napier and Emmanuel Imani as recurring cast members.
Deadline reported earlier today that Amazon’s Wheel of Time adaptation has added three more recurring cast members to its fantasy epic.
Priyanka Bose, who is best known for her role in Lion, has been cast as Alanna Mosvani, a member of the same organization of powerful women — the Aes Sedai — as Rosamund Pike’s Moirainethe.
Alanna Mosvani is renowned for both her kindness and her temper, as well as having two Warders rather than one like Moiraine and most Aes Sedai.
Alanna’s two Warders are Ihvon, played by Emmanuel Imani, and Maksim, played by Taylor Napier. The three of them have a complicated relationship built on love, sex and respect that welds them into a fearsome force in battle.
Taylor Napier is best known for his work in All About April and Emmanuel Imani’s best known role is from Black Earth Rising.
The three recurring characters join previously announced cast members Barney Harris as Mat Cauthon, Marcus Rutherford as Perrin Aybara, Josha Straowski as Rand al’Thor, Daniel Henney as al’Lan Mandragoran, Rosamund Pike as Moiraine, Zoe Robins as Nynaeve al’Meara, and Madeleine Madden as Egwene Al’Vere
Wheel of Time is Amazon’s adaptation of Robert Jordan’s sprawling epic fantasy series, and exists in a world where magic exists and only certain women are allowed to access it. The story follows Moiraine (Pike), a member of the incredibly powerful all-female organization called the Aes Sedai, as she arrives in the small town of Two Rivers. There, she embarks on a dangerous, world-spanning journey with five young men and women, one of whom is prophesied to be the Dragon Reborn, who will either save or destroy humanity.
The Wheel of Time was adapted for television by executive producer/showrunner Rafe Judkins, best known for his work on Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Uta Briesewitz will serve as executive producer, and is likewise set to direct the first two episodes.
