Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns on April 4 with its final story pod of the season. The pod begins with an episode titled “What If…” and it’s that exact question that this new information begins to elucidate.
Hey, spoiler alert: Everything is terrible!
New in-world posters from ABC reveal that, shockingly, a world dominated by Hydra is not one brimming with compassion and tolerance. Instead, Hydra’s propaganda blends the imagery of real-world bigotry and suppression with blatant anti-Inhuman prejudice.
Citizens of the bizarre Framework reality are urged to maintain vigilance against Inhumans. Words like “Sanitation” and “New World Order” are speckled ominously across the images.
“Harboring one,” a poster warns, “Betrays all.”
All in all, it looks like Daisy and Simmons are going to have a lot on their plates when they wake up in this nightmarish dystopia with absolutely no connection to our reality whatsoever.
New stills from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. 4×16 do suggest a bright side, though. Fitz still looks really good in a suit.
“Hail the New World Order!” ABC’s synopsis says of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. 4×16. “Daisy and Simmons uncover secrets and lies in a world gone mad. With Hydra in control, they are our only hope to save everyone.”
