The Vampire Diaries returns tonight with “The Five,” a flashback episode which will push the mythology forward. See what Joseph Morgan and Julie Plec can tease about it!
In the video interview with TV Guide, Morgan explains that this episode is his favourite he’s ever done on the show. “I thought it was brilliantly written,” he says, “And yeah, we learn a huge secret that fits into the mythology of Mystic Falls and all of the Originals’ history.” We can expect a “big reveal,” the actor also teases, which is going to play “a dominant part in how the whole season unfolds.”
Showrunner Julie Plec also adds a few teasing comments about the episode. She says that in this episode – more specifically the flashback to the 12th century, “the question of what is different about [Connor], why is he able to deeply, darkly hunt and kill vampires, what drives him, what his history is and what other people know about his history start to unfold.”
We’re very curious about how the flashback will tie in to Connor’s storyline, considering that he’s supposedly human. Klaus clearly didn’t recognise him in the last episode, but he did recognise the term “The Five,” so we’re guessing that tonight we’ll learn just how Klaus and the other Originals know about these five, whatever and whoever they are.
The Vampire Diaries 4×04 “The Five” airs tonight at 8/7c on The CW!
