A few months ago, Jim Carrey backed out of his involvement with Dumb and Dumber 2 due to frustrations with Warner Bros. However, new reports have surfaced stating that Carrey and the rest of the crew still do want the sequel to happen.
Cinema Blend reports that Carrey backed out of the film after he stated Warner Bros. and New Line weren’t being “enthusiastic” enough about the film. While Carrey’s co-star Jeff Daniels has been promoting The Newsroom recently, he’s said Carrey still wants the sequel to happen despite his frustations, stating, “Jim wants to do it. I want to do it. The Farrellys want to do it. They want to rewrite the script a little bit and they aren’t trying to jam it in before I have to go back and do ‘Newsroom’ in November.”
There was also allegedly conflict between Carrey, Daniels, the Farrelly Brothers and the studios. The studio and Farrelly brothers wanted more work on the script, so they pushed it back since Daniels wasn’t going to move around his involvement with The Newsroom. Daniels also stated that the project “will be organized to go…with more hope than ever” next May or June, if everything works on on the business side.
What do you think? Do you think it sounds like Dumb and Dumber 2 still has hope?
