For the series, the plan is to center the one-hour drama around a teenage girl growing up in the foster care system. Also set in Southern California in the 1970s, the forthcoming series adaptation will find the teenage girl befriending a group of skateboarders who also happen to be a huge fan of the Zephyr Skateboard Team, the members of whom were the main focus of the 2005 sports drama.
Behind the scenes, the production has tasked Queen Sugar vet Kat Candler with writing the ensemble drama.
In addition, Catherine Hardwicke (who directed the film) is on board to serve as an executive producer on the series.
Currently, there’s no word on when we might expect to see the Lords of Dogtown series debut, nor is there much information with regards to who might star on the show.
