As the second title in the Bravely Default series wasn’t numbered, the long-rumored Bravely Default 3 will come in the form of Bravely Default 2 for the Nintendo Switch.
Announced at the 2019 The Game Awards, Bravely Default 2 will take players on another JRPG adventure for Nintendo’s portable handheld console.
The announcement trailer for Bravely Default 2 reveals that the game exists and is in development, but not much more. Check it out for yourself below.
The first Bravely Default game released for the Nintendo 3DS in 2012, and was met with immediate critical acclaim. It mixed the JRPG elements of Final Fantasy with a new backdrop of the world of Luxendarc, and followed the story of Agnès, Edea, Tiz, and Ringabel as they struggled to maintain peace and light in a crumbling Luxendarc.
Featuring the job systems and turn-based battles of Final Fantasy 4, the Bravely Default series is widely considered to be the spiritual successor to FF4. As the story of Bravely Default deviates further from the world of Final Fantasy, the newly acclaimed JRPG series has made its mark on the gaming industry for its fresh, stylized look and challenging game play.
The second Bravely Default, titled Bravely Second: End Layer released for the Nintendo 3DS in 2016, and followed the events of the first game as the dust from Bravely‘s conclusion settled. With Agnès as the standing Pope, this title follows the plot of the Bravely characters two years after the first game ended.
