Zombieland 2: Double Tap brings back old familiar faces and gifts us with some new ones, all while dishing out fantastic zombie-killing scenes.
It’s been an entire decade since Zombieland became an undisputed horror-comedy.
In that time, Abigail Breslin became old enough to drink, Emma Stone won an Oscar, Jesse Eisenberg played two of America’s biggest villains (Lex and Mark Zuckerberg), and Woody Harrelson got nominated for his work in both film and TV.
So it’s been a pretty good decade for the actors.
And, from what we get to see in the trailer for Zombieland 2: Double Tap, it’s been a pretty good decade for the dysfunctional family that is Columbus, Wichita, Tallahassee, and Little Rock as well.
A decade after Zombieland became a hit film and a cult classic, the lead cast (Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Abigail Breslin, and Emma Stone) have reunited with director Ruben Fleischer (Venom) and the original writers Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick (Deadpool) for Zombieland 2: Double Tap. In the sequel, written by Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick and Dave Callaham, through comic mayhem that stretches from the White House and through the heartland, these four slayers must face off against the many new kinds of zombies that have evolved since the first movie, as well as some new human survivors. But most of all, they have to face the growing pains of their own snarky, makeshift family.
Zombieland 2: Double Tap brings back all the original cast and director and sees the crew taking the phrase ‘go big or go home’ literally as they move into the biggest — metaphorically and literally — in the United States: The White House.
They’ve also become pretty damn adept at killing zombies as we see in the trailer. Unfortunately, as they’ve been getting bigger and better, so too have the zombies.
Ruben Fleischer described the ongoing threat as “the T-800 zombies, that are stronger, faster, harder to kill.”
Alongside this new threat are a brand new cast of characters, including Rosario Dawson’s Nevada, Zoey Deutsch’s Madison (who survived by living in the freezer of a Pinkberry), Avan Jogia’s Berkeley, and a hilarious doppelganger pair played by Luke Wilson and Thomas Middleditch.
Zombieland 2: Double Tap will be in theaters October 18, 2019!
