It looks like Sarah Paulson is taking a step back from American Horror Story.
According to Variety, actress Sarah Paulson won’t be appearing in a significant role in American Horror Story: 1984.
Paulson’s absence on the anthology series this year will surely be missed by diehard fans of Ryan Murphy’s hit anthology series.
The actress has notably appeared in key roles over the course of the series’ past eight seasons. The show’s forthcoming ninth series will mark the first time Paulson won’t be prominently featured since the series’ first season where the actress appeared in just three episodes.
Sarah Paulson isn’t the only familiar face that’ll be absent in American Horror Story: 1984. Co-star Evan Peters also revealed earlier this year that he won’t be taking part in the show’s upcoming ninth season.
Peters made the announcement at this year’s Wonder Con in an interview with Extra.

“No, I’m going to sit a season out,” said Peters when asked whether or not he’s involved with American Horror Story: 1984.”
Like Sarah Paulson, Peters has portrayed notable characters in the hit anthology series since the show’s first season n FX back in 2011. The fact that they’re both stepping back will definitely be a big change for viewers.
As with previous seasons, those involved with American Horror Story: 1984 are keeping tight lipped with regards to plot details.
Guess we’ll have to wait until the series makes its grand return on FX in the fall to find out more about what we can expect!
