It’s the end of an era for fans of coach Adam Levine on NBC’s The Voice.
After 16 seasons serving as a coach on Adam Levine has officially announced he’ll be giving up his chair.
News of Levine’s decision to leave the hit singing competition series broke just days after The Voice crowned a winner for season 16.
Though series host Carson Daly officially made the announcement Friday morning on the Today show, the Maroon 5 frontman took to Instagram to confirm the news to fans far and wide.
Levine shared a throwback photo from when all four of the original judges graced the cover of Rolling Stone.
The Maroon 5 frontman paired the photo with a lengthy caption in which he thanked the cast, crew, and producers of The Voice
He also made it a point to give an extra special thanks to his fellow judge Blake Shelton, who like Levine, has been serving as a coach since the series first premiered.
“I couldn’t hide my love for you if I tried. Seriously. I tried. I can’t do it,” wrote Levine of his pal. “Our friendship is and always will be one for the books. Whatever this whole surreal experience was, I’m just happy I got to experience it with you. You’re my brother for life.”
The “Girls Like You” singer also made it a point to thank the fans of the show saying, “To all of the loyal voice fans. there’s literally no show without you guys. For me it was time to move on. Your support has meant EVERYTHING.”
So who will replace Levine in the coveted spot as the fourth coach on The Voice?
According to Variety, they’ll be bringing back Gwen Stefani, who served as a coach in 2014 and 2015.
The Voice returns for season 17 on NBC in the fall.
