Netflix is bringing the classic ’80s cartoon She-Ra to life for a whole new generation of fans to enjoy!
According to a press release sent out by Netflix earlier this week, the online streaming platform is teaming up with DreamWorks Animation Televisions to premiere six original series in 2018.
Of the six, one of the titles that will undoubtedly stand out to ’80s fans far and wide is She-Ra.
The original animation (called She-Ra: Princess of Power) made its debut in 1985 and focused on the adventures of He-Man’s twin sister, Princess Adora, and her quest to free her home planet Etheria from the clutches of the Evil Horde.
Netflix and DreamWorks Animation have taped Lumberjanes and Nimona executive producer Noelle Stevenson to spearhead the upcoming animated series, billed as being a “modern take on the ’80s girl power icon for a new generation of young fans.”
Stevenson took to Twitter to share the good news of her involvement in the series with the world.
“The news is out: I’m show running a new She-Ra reboot for Dreamworks TV and Netflix!” tweeted Stevenson.
Later, the showrunner elaborated on how long the forthcoming project has been in the works, and even teased that we might be catching our first glimpse of the new She-Ra series very soon!
“I’ve been working on this in secret along with some really incredible talent for almost two years now,” continued Stevenson. “Stay tuned for more details over the next few months — can’t wait for you to see what we’re doing.”

Additionally, Netflix added that the new series would be heavy on the girl power, something that we’re sure is bound to please many who will be tuning in.
“With Stevenson’s unique voice at the helm, fans are in store for an epic and timely tale that celebrates female friendship and empowerment, led by a warrior princess tailor-made for today,” reads the official press release for the series.
Other animated series getting the green light as part of Netflix and DreamWorks’ deal include DreamWorks Trolls: The Beat Goes On, The Boss Baby: Back In Business, Harvey street Kids, The Epic Tales of Captain Underpants, and Trollhunters (Part 3) and 3 Below.
Currently there’s no official release date for She-Ra, but Netflix says fans can expect to see the series pop up on the platform sometime in 2018.
