Sheldon makes a major decision — let’s just say the Force won’t be the only thing awakening! — when The Big Bang Theory 9×11 airs tonight.
The episode, titled “The Opening Night Excitation,” will focus on two very big events — the premiere of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and Sheldon’s decision to lose his virginity with Amy.
…It’s not a joke, don’t wait for the “Bazinga.”
“After more than five years of dating, Sheldon and Amy spend their first night together,” CBS informs us. “Also, Leonard, Wolowitz, and Koothrappali must decide who will take their extra Star Wars movie ticket.”
Bob Newhart will reprise his role as Force-ghost of Professor Proton in The Big Bang Theory 9×11. Hopefully he’ll have good advice for Sheldon, and not try and hold him to that antiquated Jedi code.
Amy and Sheldon’s upcoming coitus was led into on last week’s episode of The Big Bang Theory, when a tune stuck in his head reminded Sheldon of how wonderful Amy is. He interrupted her date with a passionate kiss, and the two couldn’t be happier. Meanwhile, Howard and Raj learned that their band has a fan with questionable hygienic practices.
In the two sneak peeks from “The Opening Night Excitation,” the attractions of Star Wars and sex are debated, while Sheldon proves unskilled at modern coital innuendo.
We can’t wait to see just how Sheldon broaches the subject of sex with Amy, but to tide us over, CBS has released two behind-the-scenes looks at tonight’s episode. First, coitus and Star Wars come together (oh dear, that sounds wrong) as Bob Newhart describes his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi to Sheldon’s conflicted Luke. Mayim Bialik and Jim Parsons also share their thoughts on tonight’s events, and the rest of the cast describe their Star Wars alter-egos.
The stills from The Big Bang Theory 9×11 look pretty adorable, both on the geeky and romantic side. And — wait, is that Wesley Crusher?
The Big Bang Theory 9×11, “The Opening Night Excitation,” airs tonight at 8:00 p.m. on ABC.
