A certain segment of the Ghostbusters fanbase is violently opposed to Paul Feig’s reboot, despite the fact that the movie only just wrapped production.
The female-led Ghostbusters reboot finished filming this weekend, and director Paul Feig is now heading into post-production.

But, as we’re sure you’re aware, dissenters have been making their voices heard — loudly — since the movie was first announced. Whether they’re opposed to the idea of a reboot, or the idea of a women-only squad, is anyone’s guess, but Paul Feig wants them to give it a rest either way.
Responding to a particularly eloquent and totally comprehensible tweet which read, “the thing with your gb movie is not the female gb. Is the reboot angle who follows the same plot of the original,” Feig wrote:
You all have no idea what we did, so stop acting like you do. Enough is enough. Just let this movie happen. #enough https://t.co/lBZGHaNEbz

“Just let this movie happen” indeed! Although we’re all feeling the remake fatigue, Paul Feig is clearly putting an original spin on an old story.
And he’s sick of your whining. To a self-proclaimed superfan who is opposed to the reboot, he had this to say:
Then you should embrace a new generation getting their own version. GB is a positive force. Your negativity isn't. https://t.co/MOKZpLLIBo

Finally, to round off a perfect takedown:
You've been ranting at me and my cast for months with misogyny and insults. So go fuck yourself. Goodnight. #enough https://t.co/r3XNfWP68c

The Ghostbusters reboot is chock full of cameos from the original cast — Ernie Hudson and Annie Potts were recently revealed to join Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd — and several of them have offered high praise of Feig and his new movie.
In a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, original star Ernie Hudson called the new Ghostbusters, “phenomenal,” describing it as, “Four fiercely funny, foxy, females busting ghosts.”
Ghostbusters stars Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon, and hits cinemas on July 15, 2016. Let’s all hold our judgement until then, shall we?
