It’s a special day in the Wizarding World: Harry Potter’s first son is starting at Hogwarts today.

Update: Rowling has just announced that James Sirius has been sorted into Gryffindor, to HUFFLEPUFF HEAD BOY Teddy Lupin’s disappointment (this is the first time we’re learning that Teddy was sorted into Hufflepuff, and that he became Head Boy. Remember, his mother Tonks was a Hufflepuff!):
Have just heard that James S Potter has been Sorted (to nobody's surprise) into Gryffindor. Teddy Lupin (Head Boy, Hufflepuff) disappointed.

Today is September 1, the magical day of the year when young witches and wizards start their education at Hogwarts or begin another year.
Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling dropped a fun surprise on Twitter this morning when she revealed that Harry’s son James Sirius begins school this year. “Could somebody at King’s Cross wish James S Potter good luck for me?” she asked, making our hearts swoon with pride and joy:
I'm in Edinburgh, so could somebody at King's Cross wish James S Potter good luck for me? He's starting at Hogwarts today. #BackToHogwarts

The author grew a little concerned however when there was perhaps too much of an outpour:
@jk_rowling I just met him, he said thanks!

Now worried that he'll be irritated by the number of people saying hi. https://t.co/6keaEOsKS0

James Potter II is the oldest child of Harry and Ginny. He was born in 2004, which makes him 11 years old in 2015 (thus old enough to go back to Hogwarts!).
We’re so happy that J.K. Rowling remembered that today is James Sirius Potter’s first day of school — the Wizarding World is still very much within her heart Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2 depicted Harry and Ginny’s second oldest son, Albus Severus, hopping on the Hogwarts Express for his first day of school. James Sirius Potter appears only briefly — His younger brother Albus receives more screen time since it’s his first day.
Although things at Hogwarts are probably running much smoother than they did while Harry attended, our minds and hearts race when we think about J.K. Rowling writing a story about James Sirius’s years at Hogwarts. Remember: He’s in possession of the Marauder’s Map after stealing it from Harry’s desk — surely he’ll be up to some interesting hijinks at Hogwarts!
HAPPY FIRST DAY OF HOGWARTS, EVERYONE!
Wishing you went to Hogwarts? Remember: J.K. Rowling proclaimed in June that we all went to Hogwarts together!
