Teen Wolf season 5, episode 8, “Ouroboros,” just finished airing. Check out our highlights and discuss with fellow fans!
Say hello to the Desert Wolf
The episode opened with Deaton finding the Dread Doctors’ foreign lair, complete with the creepy symbol of Ouroboros, which depicts a snake devouring its own tail. Inside, he discovered several failed experiments (at this point, the market is feeling a little saturated), as well as a claw that gave him the answers he was looking for.
Unfortunately, before he could get out of there, his compadre was shot and Deaton came face to face with the Desert Wolf. Though we didn’t get to see her for much of the episode, she certainly had a presence on screen. Turns out she had every intention of killing her daughter that night when she shot up the van. And if her daughter happens to still be alive? “I’m just gonna have to kill her again,” she says.

Is the Desert Wolf a chimera, and is she at all tied with the Dread Doctors? Are they controlling her, or is she the one controlling them? And why does she want her daughter dead so badly? If the Desert Wolf didn’t want to have children, she could’ve just stayed as far away from Malia as possible. However, the fact that she’s going out of her way to find her and end her life makes us think something else might be going on with Malia.
Though we didn’t get much information about the Dread Doctors this episode, at least it feels like we’re one step closer to figuring out their deal. That is, if Deaton can escape the Desert Wolf.
Sheriff ain’t got time for your rule breaking
Sheriff dealing with the line he must toe between knowing about the supernatural and being the sheriff of Beacon Hills was a much more prevalent plot in this episode, and one we thoroughly enjoyed. He wants to handle these crimes like he would any other crime — within the parameters of the law. But despite knowing the dead body in Mama McCall’s kitchen was the result of something much more than your run-of-the-mill murderer, he still had someone pick up Kira.
Of course, Mr. Yukimura came to her rescue and Kira was let go, but Sheriff Stilinski’s frustration continued to grow throughout the episode, especially when confronted by Melissa. The hardest part about this situation was that we could understand both sides of the story. The sheriff is trying to do his job, trying to uphold the law. On the other hand, Melissa is trying to protect her son and his friends. There are crimes being committed that someone needs to be held accountable for, but at the same time, Scott and his pack should not be punished for doing the right thing, even if they look guilty in the eyes of the court system.

Though we didn’t get a true confrontation this episode, it feels like one is coming. Sheriff Stilinski now knows both Theo and Stiles were at the library the night of the prank call. He asked his son about the key card, and Stiles lied to his face. That was the end of it for now, but it’s just a matter of time before the truth comes out.
And if it does, what will Sheriff Stilinski do? Will he arrest Stiles despite knowing the whole truth, or will he sweep it under the rug and risk losing his job and the respect of the deputies working under him?
And let’s not forget…
- That other chimera who was trapped with Hayden and Liam had wings.
- Theo saved Hayden and Liam, and even though he’s being treated like a hero right now, we know it’s all just a part of his plan.
- Stiles now knows Parrish is the one taking the bodies, and Lydia knows where he’s going with them.
- Kira remembers the Dread Doctors inserting something into her eye, getting struck by lightning, and then a white light bursting from her mouth. That seems totally normal — which is why she leaves town until she can figure out what’s going on.
