X-Men: Apocalypse stars Jennifer Lawrence and Michael Fassbender joined Patton Oswalt, Dennis Quaid and Olivia Munn for a live reading of The Big Lebowski.
Last Friday, Michael Fassbender took center stage at an all-star live reading of the 1998 Coen Brothers classic The Big Lebowski in Montreal, Canada, as part of the Just for Laughs comedy festival.
Fassbender played Jeff Bridges’ The Dude, while his X-Men co-star Jennifer Lawrence appeared as Julianne Moore’s Maude. Other well-known participants included Patton Oswalt (who allegedly stole the show as Walter), Olivia Munn, Mae Whitman, and Dennis Quaid.

The one-night only event was organized by Jason Reitman, and the lucky 1,300 audience members got to see Fassbender don a bathrobe and boxer shorts, going what Oswalt joked was, “a little too method” in his attempt to emulate The Dude in all his glory.
The Big Lebowski follows Jeffrey “The Dude” Lebowski, a self-proclaimed slacker, whose biggest pursuit in life is bowling. But after he is mistaken for a millionaire also named Jeffrey Lebowski, The Dude is enlisted to help save Lebowski’s wife.
It’d always be hard to top the star-specked original cast, which also included John Goodman, Steve Buscemi, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Sam Elliott and Tara Reid.
But according to reviews, Reitman’s team gave an all-round hilarious and entertaining performance.

Variety deems Patton Oswalt the star of the show, writing, “Whereas Fassbender gave what appears to be the most laid-back performance of his career, Oswalt went into overdrive, pouring his full energy into the part of Walter.”
The live reading was also full of goofs. “One of the funniest moments came when Munn, who was supposed to portray Bunny, accidentally read a line meant for Lawrence, who was playing the role of Maude, and completely confused the cast,” writes UPI.
