NBC already gave Hannibal fans an expiration date, but now they’ve twisted the knife a bit deeper by moving the series mid-season to air on Saturday nights.
Change your DVR settings, Hannibal fans. The show is moving from Thursdays at 10:00 p.m. to Saturday night at 10:00 p.m. This announcement feels like salt poured in our already open wound following a string of bad news as streaming options take a pass. It is looking likely that Hannibal will not live to see a fourth season after all.
Hannibal is not the only series that will experience a shift. Its current Thursday night lead-in, Aquarius, will also make the trip down to 9:00 p.m. on Saturday.

The move for Hannibal makes sense on NBC’s part after they cancelled the series in June. The David Duchovny-led ’60s cop drama, however, was renewed for a second season. In place of the two dramas NBC will air Dateline Thursday Mysteries.
Hannibal is set to wrap up the first story arc of season 3 this week before the show flashes forward and begins to tackle the Red Dragon storyline. Richard Armitage takes on the role of the famous serial killer from Thomas Harris’ novel, Francis Dolerhyde.

Still to come this season, Bedelia’s backstory with her now deceased patient played by Zachary Quinto, Hannibal’s presumed detainment in Chilton’s hospital, and Will Graham’s return to FBI profiling.
