Tim Burton’s Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children has added another big-name Hollywood actor; Allison Janney joins Eva Green, Asa Butterfield and more.
The adaptation of Ransom Riggs’ brilliant Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children is headed for the big screen. Adapted by Jane Goldman and directed by Tim Burton, the movie stars Asa Butterfield as Jacob, Ella Purnell as Emma, and Samuel L. Jackson as Barron, with Eva Green playing the titular character.

Variety reports that Allison Janney has joined the cast as Jacob’s psychiatrist (in the novel, Dr. Golan is a man, but they’ve probably changed this for the film).
Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children follows the 16-year-old Jacob, who travels to a small British island in order to learn more about his grandfather’s mysterious past. When Jacob discovers the ruins of an orphanage, tales of the “peculiar” children who used to live there begin to take shape.
And his grandfather’s old playmates, who are revealed to have actual supernatural powers, might still be alive.
The book relies heavily on old, mysterious photographs, which the author has collected and ultimately based the characters on. It seems right up Tim Burton’s alley, and the cast is full of talented people.
