A new gang becomes popular among the citizens, causing more trouble for Gordon and Bullock on Gotham season 1, episode 17, “Red Hood.” Find out what happens with our recap!
A gang robs the Gotham Bank, and one of the members dons a red hood and takes charge of the robbery, telling the people in the bank that they’re taking the bank’s money, and giving money to citizens outside. Even one of the workers tells Gordon that the man was acting like Robin Hood.
Surveillance footage shows Gordon that the gang did recon on the bank a week prior to the robbery to see what the police response time would be. He’s able to tell who the red hooded gang member is and sees his work shirt.
But the gang isn’t happy with the guy who wore the red hood. He’s convinced that the hood is lucky and it sets them apart. When he says whoever wears the hood should be the leader, the senior member of the gang shoots him and takes over as Red Hood.
Things go from bad to worse at Penguin’s club. Maroni is in control of the booze and refuses to sell to Penguin. Butch warns him to be careful.
To get some liquor, Penguin wants to take out Maroni’s men, but the police show up and confiscate it before they can. Penguin thinks the night is ruined until Butch pops up and says that the police are under his pay.
Back at the club, Butch tells Penguin that he wants to help so that Falcone doesn’t go after him. Also, he doesn’t want to be a sidekick anymore. Penguin admits that sometimes he misses Mooney, but Butch says that she got what she deserved.
Bullock and Gordon go to check out the auto shop, and find that it’s empty. But they do find the gangster dead in the fridge. Meanwhile, the Red Hood gang robs another bank and gives some of the money back to the people there.
An eyewitness from the robbery comes in to see Bullock and Gordon. He’s willing to help if he gets something in return. He easily points out the guy who wore the Red Hood in a lineup. Instead of taking Destro in, Gordon wants to let him go and show them where the rest of the gang is.
When Destro gets home from drinking, he finds another one of the members waiting for him. The other guy wants the Red Hood to show his girlfriend that he’s not a loser, and he’s willing to kill for it.
By the time Gordon and Bullock get up there, the shooter is gone. They do find rejection letters from the banks the gang robbed, and one more that hadn’t been hit yet.
The final three gang members go to rob the bank, but the GCPD shows up before they can start. Despite being outnumbered, the gang tries to take them on anyway. The entire gang is shot down by Bullock and Gordon.
Mooney is taken out of the dungeon basement to a ward where she sees people recovering from their donations. At the end of the hall, Mooney is taken to the manager’s office.
The manager explains that a doctor owns the facility and she wants to meet him. To soften her up, the manger lets her freshen up in his bathroom. But when she gets out it’s clear that she’s the next victim they have in mind. But rather than let them have her eyes, Mooney gouges out one of her own and crushes it.
At Wayne Manor, Alfred’s old friend Reggie shows up. He’s been going through a rough patch ever since his wife died. When Bruce meets Reggie, he insists that he stays for a few nights.
The next morning, Reggie helps Bruce train to fight, and he doesn’t take it easy on the boy. But before Reggie can teach Bruce how to use different things around him as weapons, Alfred stops it. Alfred warns Reggie that they need to keep the past in the past.
After a night of drinking and reminiscing, Alfred finds Reggie trying to steal from the house. Alfred wants to help, but Reggie says there’s no other way and stabs him.
As soon as Gordon gets the call from Bruce about Alfred, he races to the hospital. Meanwhile, Reggie reports to the Wayne board members about what information Bruce has.
On the streets, a boy finds the red hood and raises his hands, pretending to hold a gun.
