Taking hints from The Vampire Diaries and True Blood‘s promotional posters, the first key art for The CW’s iZombie gives us a hint at the drama’s gory potential.
In this beautifully rendered art for iZombie, we witness Liv mid-transformation, holding a brain in a jar, blood dripping off her fingers. As seen in the first trailer for iZombie, Liv will activate a more animalistic side of her personality when entering “zombie mode.”
The series tagline, “Kicking ass and taking brains,” is one we can get behind.
As iZombie crawls toward its early March release date, The CW continues to release mini trailers for the zombie drama.
In this first trailer, Liv’s family and friends turn a pot luck into an intervention. We can’t help but wonder if this scene was meant to suggest that Liv’s inner circle knows of her “condition.” Also of note is the first on-screen appearance of Aly Michalka’s character, who’s portraying Liv’s best friend Peyton Charles.
The second trailer shows Liv’s awakening and subsequent craving of brains. We already expect the scene where she opens up the body bag to be equal parts hilarious and spooky.
iZombie is already shaping up to be a great effort from The CW. The network is likely hoping to ride off of the successes of shows like Supernatural and The Vampire Diaries in the upcoming pilot.
Another built-in audience for iZombie comes from Marshmallows returning for Veronica Mars creator Rob Thomas’ latest project. With a hot timeslot of Tuesday nights and a dedicated initial audience, it’s possible that this comic book adaptation will be a hit on the teen-centric network.
