Elementary season 3, episode 2, “The Five Orange Pipz,” continues to ease Holmes back into life at the precinct. Check out the two new clips from this week here!
In two new clips from this week’s episode of Elementary, Sherlock reacquaints himself with Detective Bell and tests his standing in a Joan dominated department. Elementary season 3, episode 2, will take on the case of a double homicide, linked by two envelopes containing five orange beads.
‘Two detectives, two bodies’
Joan continues to match Sherlock beat for beat when it comes to staking her cases from Captain Gregson. However, looking like a lost puppy with a bit of an inferiority complex, Sherlock hangs around patiently waiting for Joan to let him in on the fun.
Though Sherlock does take pause before beginning his deductive work on the bodies, he already send Kitty off to shadow Bell at the crime scene. He is making progress, slowly but surely.
‘You’re really back’
Detective Bell and Sherlock have always had a unique relationship. Not as blunt as Captain Gregson’s welcome, Bell sits back and acknowledges that though time has passed, nothing more than the amount of scruff on Sherlock’s chin has changed much.

The dynamic shift is a refreshing take on the Holmes and Watson relationship so far in season 3. Though it is early, Elementary is doing a bang up job of taking the show in a new direction without losing the characters in the process. Especially in the clip between Sherlock and Watson above, the old Sherlock is visibly bouncing on his toes ready to pounce on the case “worthy of his attention.” But looking on his old partner who can rightfully claim the same, the detective respects her enough to wait for clearance.
Kitty, on the other hand, is set on her first job with the NYPD under the watch of Detective Bell. From what we’ve seen of her last week, taking photos at a crime scene is probably not going to be gritty enough work for her. Brace yourself, Marcus!
