Sleepy Hollow season 2, episode 5 aired last night. Find out what happened below!
This week’s Sleepy Hollow opens with Crane getting some new duds. Alas, they are still in his time era, no repeat skinny jean situations, which is truly a shame. Also it seems Crane has an admirer in Miss Caroline, who goes out of her way to give Crane gifts, including a tiny pillow with their first initials embroidered on it. Girl, you better step back! Only two women occupy Ich’s heart and they are his witch wife Katrina and his real love Abigail Mills. How does Crane shut her down? He’s married, duh. Abbie walks in and Caroline assumes she is the wife he speaks of, obviously. New phrase: Crane on the Brain.
His actual wife is in the middle of some kind of spell and can we just say finally, girl is using her supposedly great powers on the show. Except it’s only to use a crow to send a message to Crane. Boo. Abraham leers at his onetime fiancé, and it’s super creepy. Move on dude. Ah we have our answer as to why she isn’t using her powers; Henry put a spell on the house to keep her from using her magic. She gets a break for now.
Our villain of the week? The Weeping Lady, who interrupts a couple of teens making out, turns out to be an ex of Crane’s. As soon as Crane apologizes to Caroline, we just know she’s going to be the first victim of the episode. Is she? Yep and this quite possibly is one of the most disturbing villains that we’ve seen in a while.
Crane is obviously distraught when they find the body in the river the next morning. The two saviors find our teenagers car tracks and we realize Crane has different views on “dating.” While splitting leads in the library with Abbie, Crane gets the note from his wife. Boring. Yay! Halloway is back, looking roguishly handsome as ever. Abbie and Halloway engage in some flirty banter, and it’s on. Okay, not yet but hopefully soon.
Uh oh, Abbie hears the Weeping Lady crying and we know this isn’t going to end well for our witness. Why she thinks a gun will stop this creature, who knows, but she falls into a portable waterhole while Ichabod tries to rescue her and does eventually. Not sure why Crane doesn’t give her mouth to mouth right away like Halloway does but soon she is revived and clutching Crane. All is right with the world.

Abbie managed to rip part of the Weeping Lady’s shawl and Crane clearly recognizes it. It belonged to his promised fiancée, Mary Wells, who came from England to bring him back into the fold. And interrupts Crane and Katrina’s flirting. Mary clearly doesn’t’ understand the phrase, ‘he’s just not that into you’ as evidence by her reaction when Crane really ends it. She thinks it has to do with Katrina, not entirely wrong, but also has a personal space problem it looks like.
In the past Crane got a letter releasing him of his vow, but Abbie thinks she never left Sleepy Hollow. And of course, they both realize that she is going to go after the real source of her hatred, Katrina. Who do our witnesses turn to? Hawley of course. He just happens to have the weapon they need to defeat Crane’s ex and offers it freely, mostly because he’s not sure if it will work. Classic Nick.
And sure enough Katrina is attacked by the Weeping Lady. And finally we get to see Katrina perform some magic! And it turns out Henry is the one who raised her spirit. That kid needs a timeout. And it looks like Abbie and Katrina are going to finally get that bonding moment no one wants while Crane distracts Weeping Mary. Crane tries talking to her but just ends up having to shoot her with the bow Nick gave them. It doesn’t really work and just pisses her off. Katrina succeeded in her spell reversal and Crane holds Mary in his arms as she dies again and fingers Katrina as her tormentor as she moves on.
Turns out Katrina knows more than she let on; Mary wrote Katrina a letter too. Mary, hysterical, attacks Katrina and ends up falling off a cliff! She must have hit her head on the way down Katrina says and Katrina wrote the letter Crane received. Crane is PISSED, ya’ll. Finally Crane lets his wife have it and before those two can really fight it out Abraham comes crashing in. Katrina manages to convince him not to kill Crane and goes willingly back to her ‘prison.’
Hawley is visited by Jenny, who is returning the crossbow, and she is into that rogue! But he’s not, he’s into Abbie. Guess the Mills family will see how they deal with boy problems pretty soon! In the meantime, Crane has dedicated a spot in his reenactment for Caroline, what a guy. How can Abbie control herself around him? That is the real mystery of this show. And it looks like Crane is beginning to see the cracks in his marriage and you gotta feel for the guy after all he’s been through.
Katrina accuses Abraham and Henry of starting this whole episode with the Weeping Lady. Abraham reveals they played no part in it, but it was Henry trying to please Moloch. Is he pleased? No. And Henry is eerily childlike in that final scene. Also, Katrina is a Hellfire shards, that can’t be good news.
