What with Frozen monsters and evil Snow Queens in Once Upon a Time season 4, will Emma and Hook ever have time to go on a date?
Emma/Hook (CaptainSwan) supporters were elated when the pair finally gave in to their feelings for each other in the Once Upon a Time season 3 finale.
But the happily ever after, if it’s even in the cards for the unlikely pair, won’t be coming round any time soon.
Speaking to EW, Jennifer Morrison lists all the distractions that’ll keep Hook (Colin O’Donoghue) and Emma from pursuing their newfound relationship.
“There are concerns about Regina, that’s distracting. There’s a snow monster in town, that’s distracting. We eventually encounter Elsa, so that’s distracting. Then we discover that there’s an evil Snow Queen (Elizabeth Mitchell), so that’s distracting,” Morrison says. “There’s just stuff going on that’s in the way of them just having a happy-go-lucky situation.”
But fear not, because despite of all this, the pair will have their first date… eventually.
“They’re trying,” Morrison reassures worried shippers. “They’re trying to figure out how to get to know each other amidst all these crises, and how to make time to go on a date. It’s a very unique take on the beginning of dating.”
One of the reasons Emma gave Hook in the season 4 premiere for wanting to take things slow was the situation with Regina (Lana Parrilla), whose romance with Robin (Sean Maguire) was inadvertently squashed by Emma when she saved Marian (Christie Laing)’s life.

Morrison says that while Emma doesn’t quite know how to make that up to Regina, she’s “just going to continue to try to prove that she’s there for her and she’s going to be a true friend.”
Of course Emma’s got another BFF lined up: Elsa, played by Georgina Haig. “They have a tremendous amount in common,” Morrison says, pointing out their similar problems with controlling their magic. “It’s causing them to be misunderstood, it’s causing them to hurt people they care about,” she explains.
Once Upon a Time returns this Sunday with season 4, episode 2, “White Out.” It is a Charming-centric episode, which will reveal his connection to Elsa’s sister Anna (Elizabeth Lail).
