With a few weeks to go until The Fault in Our Stars hits DVD and Blu-ray, a new deleted scene has hit the internet.
In this 45-second clip, Hazel (Shailene Woodley) and Gus (Ansel Elgort) are spending time with one another after the latter’s sudden trip to the emergency room. His night at the gas station was one of the darkest scenes in the book and film.
You can imagine why this deleted Fault in Our Stars scene, viewable below, was cut from the final film: It’s just a little too sad and probably slowed the pace of the film down a notch. At the end of the clip we see a shot of a clock that reads “If you want the rainbow you have to deal with the rain,” a reference to the quote seen in the book.
Said Elgort of the film’s deleted scenes to Entertainment Weekly today, “We did a lot of scenes that didn’t make it in the [theatrical] release, some scenes that are really beautiful. I bet now I’ll be seeing screenshots from [the deleted] scenes all over Instagram.”
Indeed, we can see one or two shots in the clip above that are worthy of Instagram and Tumblr.
The Fault in Our Stars on DVD and Blu-ray boasts numerous deleted scenes, a commentary with director Josh Boone and author John Green, and more. Check out the special features break down in our previous report, or order right now on Amazon!
