Craig Ferguson fans rejoice! The Scottish comedian may be gearing up to leave The Late, Late Show, but the comedian may hosting a daily, syndicated talk show.
According to Variety, Ferguson is currently in the final stages of negotiating a deal with Tribune Media that would find him hosting a half-hour talk show. If the deal goes through, the comedian’s new show would run in the 7 p.m. hour across the Tribune Station group.
The show, which would begin airing in the fall of 2015, would also more than likely find the late night talk show host teaming up once more with The Late, Late Show with Craig Ferguson executive producer Michael Nadius. Nadius would presumably serve as showrunner of Ferguson’s new show, which would mix together elements of a talk show along with comedy. Placing Ferguson’s new show in the 7 o’clock hour would find the comedian’s potential new show serving as a way to lead the audience into the coveted prime time hour.
Currently, the Tribune Station group reaches about 42 percent of households across the U.S. and broadcasts programs across channels like WPIX in New York, KTLA in Los Angeles, and WGN in Chicago. With negotiations currently in place to lock Ferguson in for the new show, the company is also looking into expanding the broadcast of the new program beyond their stations.
Craig Ferguson is set to step down from The Late, Late Show in December.
