All episodes of The Walking Dead will air this Fourth of July weekend, and a special look at season 5 will be included.
Affectionately titled “Dead, White, and Blue,” The Walking Dead marathon begins this Friday, July 4 at 9 a.m. eastern/pacific and runs through Sunday, July 6. All episodes of the series will air back-to-back, but AMC isn’t saying when exactly the season 5 preview will be released.
In addition, The Talking Dead with Chris Hardwick will make a special appearance on Sunday at 9 p.m. eastern/pacific (at the end of the marathon) with a preview of what’s to come for the post-show talk show. Showrunner Scott M. Gimple and actress Aisha Tyler will be Hardwick’s guests.
If AMC releases The Walking Dead season 5 preview, we’ll be sure to share it with you here. So far the only official promotional material that’s been released for the new season is this image of Rick at Terminus.
If a marathon isn’t your thing, how about two documentaries about the show? AMC has announced the following two television events:
Inside The Walking Dead – Tuesday, July 8 at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT: “This one-hour documentary will showcase how this remarkable series is made. The executive producers will discuss the process of mapping out the show and viewers will hear from all of the key production departments – from production design and special effects to costumes and makeup – about their role in crafting the world of The Walking Dead.”
Inside The Walking Dead: Walker University –Tuesday, July 15 at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT: “AMC’s second doc will follow the journey from extra to walker. Viewers will learn that there is much more to becoming part of the living dead than just make-up, and will get an inside perspective on the choreography, acting and motivation behind each zombie, including a look at what takes place at The Walking Dead’s own Zombie School.”
The show premieres this October. Another look at season 5 is expected next month at San Diego Comic-Con.
