The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug DVD/Blu-ray release date has been set for April 8. Find out what will be included in The Hobbit sequel’s Limited Edition bonus features.
The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug was a box office smash when it hit theaters back in December, and now it has been announced that The Hobbit sequel’s Blu-ray will be released on April 8, 2014. The film will be released April 7, a day earlier in the U.K..
The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug will be available on Limited Collector’s Edition Blu-ray 3D Combo Pack for $105.43, Blu-ray 3D Combo Pack for $44.95, on Blu-ray Combo Pack for $35.99 and on 2-disc DVD Special Edition for $28.98.
The Limited Collector’s Edition Blu-ray 3D Combo Pack includes two Gates of Erebor replica bookends from the Noble Collection and features the theatrical version of the film in 3D hi-definition, hi-definition and standard definition.
What’s interesting is that only 25,000 Limited Editions will be available for purchase in the U.S. Check out the bonus features, as well as the Limited Edition packaging (click to enlarge):
There will undoubtedly be loads of additional footage included on the discs and most likely some additional bonus features that haven’t been listed yet. We look forward to seeing director Peter Jackson behind-the-scenes of the second film in his Hobbit trilogy.
The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug hit theaters on December 13, 2013. It is the second film in Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit trilogy based on the novels by revered author J.R.R Tolkien. The final movie in The Hobbit trilogy, There and Back Again, will hit theaters December 17, 2014.
