NBC is gearing up for The Voice‘s return later this month, and three coaches have already chosen their celebrity mentors.
Season 4 coaches Shakira and Usher are returning for the upcoming season 6 of The Voice, joining the only winning coaches in the show’s history: two-time winner and reigning champ Adam Levine, and three-time winning coach Blake Shelton. As the new season kicks off in a few weeks, the coaches are revealing the celebrity mentors that will help tutor contestants through the battle and knockout rounds.
One of season 6’s celebrity mentors is Blake’s wife Miranda Lambert, but surprisingly, she will not be mentoring contestants on her husband’s team. Lambert will be joining Team Shakira, and will help tutor the Latin diva’s contestants onto success. Lambert previously appeared on season 2 as a mentor for her husband Blake’s team.
Aside from her previous Voice experience, and possible pillow-talk insight to an opponent’s team, Lambert knows a lot about success, as a platinum-selling multi-award winning country music artist. Plus, she’s also no stranger to the reality competition scene, as a finalist on the 2003 season of Nashville Star.
Team Blake will not be without a little help of its own, however, as E! News reports the coach has chosen The Band Perry to be celebrity mentors for this season. Not only has The Band Perry dominated the country charts over the last several year, but this is basically getting three mentors for the price of one!
Usher has made a strong choice for his team’s mentor as well, as Extra reports that he has chosen R&B star, actress, and Grammy winner Jill Scott. Scott is excited to take on the role of coach, saying her best advice is to, “Listen to your gut, follow your heart and it will lead you somewhere special.”
In the new Voice season 6 promo, Usher and Shakira are back, and ready to give Adam and Blake a run for their money. We get a peek at several promising blind auditions, as well as the coaches trying to win them over with jokes and pleading and possible…fireworks?
