The popular FX show The Americans will return with its second season on February 26.
The highly rated FX show premiered in early 2013 and captured fans with its intriguing Cold War era plot. The series stars Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys, who play Russian spies posing as regular middle class Americans in 1980s Washington D.C. The pair have two children, Paige (Holly Taylor) and Henry (Keidrich Sellati), and a friendly neighbor Stan (Noah Emmerich), who happens to be a FBI agent. The series showcased some of the major Cold War tensions and events, such as the attempted Reagan assassination and the dangers of converting spies, as well as romantic relationships.
The Americans’ first season premiere drew 5.6 million viewers, beating the premieres of other popular FX dramas Sons of Anarchy and American Horror Story. The series ran 13 episodes in its first season and has been renewed for 13 more episodes.
The series has seen critical success and has been featured as one of the best new programs by AFI and other critics. Furthermore, the series received four Critics’ Choice Television Award nominations. The series also stars Annet Mahendru, Alison Wright, and Susan Misner.
The Americans returns February 26 at 10 p.m. ET on FX.
