The final trailer for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire will debut this Sunday during the World Series on Fox, the network announced today.
Game 4 in the World Series will take place this Sunday, October 27 starting at 8:15 p.m. eastern, and a commercial announcing the final Catching Fire trailer says that the major look at the movie will air during the 5th inning.
Pitting the St. Louis Cardinals against the Boston Red Sox, the World Series’ Game 4 is significant because if one team wins the three games prior, the fourth face off could win them the World Series (best of 7). In other words, it could be one of the most-watched games of the series.
UPDATE: The trailer has been released! Watch it now.
Lionsgate’s decision to show the trailer to an older audience is interesting on two levels. For one, they’re getting sports fans excited about a fictional competition that they may not be familiar with. On another, they’re betting this trailer will appeal to fans of high-profile sporting events.
The last Catching Fire trailer debuted at San Diego Comic-Con and showed off Francis Lawrence’s vision for the film in what were gorgeous scenes.
We presume the Catching Fire trailer will be released online shortly after it makes its television premiere, so we’ll have it here Sunday night. Stay tuned!
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire opens in theaters on November 22.
