Teen Wolf is at its peak right now, with no hints that it could be leaving us anytime soon. But that doesn’t mean we aren’t already speculating about Teen Wolf: The Movie.
It’s Teen Wolf Takeover month on Hypable.com, and today’s article looks at the possibility of a Teen Wolf movie. Read all of our TWT articles here and submit your own!
If you’re as obsessive about Teen Wolf as we are, we’re sure you’ve thought about the possibility of a Teen Wolf movie once or twice (or a million times).
Granted, the show is nowhere near going downhill as we get further into season 3, but that doesn’t mean the show will run forever. And what better way to give it a send off than to make Teen Wolf: The Movie?
We may be getting ahead of ourselves, but we couldn’t help but come up with a list of five plausible plots that could make Teen Wolf: The Movie a reality.
1. The gang goes to college.
Taking the story to a college setting would allow the creative team to go darker and sexier. (Is that even possible?) While the main story arc couldn’t be quite as complicated and drawn out as a regular season’s, it would allow for some different artistic choices that we think fans would appreciate.
It would certainly expand the Teen Wolf universe, too. New teachers, new students, new friends, and new enemies would be introduced. While we’re sure the whole gang wouldn’t go to the same college, it would be great to see them working together even if they’re spread out across the country.
A movie set at a university would introduce new challenges for our favorite characters, and allow us to see them grow up and begin deciding what exactly they want to do in life. A college setting would make the story new and exciting, but the supernatural twist would still keep it familiar.
2. ‘Teen Wolf’ goes international.
We already know Teen Wolf has its roots in France, where a lot of the mythology originated. So wouldn’t it be cool if somehow everyone was forced to make a trip overseas?
Picture this: Allison and her father get kidnapped by the Hunter’s Council for going rogue and helping werewolves instead of hunting them down. They’ll get a trial for their “crimes,” but everyone already knows what the outcome will be. Treason. And treason is a death sentence.
Scott and the others hop a plane to Europe (they swing by England and pick up Jackson, of course), and track Allison down. Turns out certain Council members weren’t exactly on board with killing one of their own, and together with the help of the Beacon Hills werewolves, they take out the offending members and rescue the Argents!
3. Team Human saves the day.
Each member of Team Human has a special talent: Stiles is the researcher, Allison is the hunter, and Lydia is…well, whatever she is. Together, they’d make one heck of a team. Throw in Mama McCall’s experience in the hospital and Papa Stilinski’s time as a sheriff, and you’ve got a nearly unbeatable force.
So, what about making them the center of attention for Teen Wolf: The Movie? Wouldn’t it be nice if, for once, Scott needed the saving? With these five on the case, hilarity is sure to ensue, and we’d have a movie with the same elements the show gives us — horror, humor, and heart.
4. A quest to find more people like Lydia.
At this point Lydia is a bit of a mystery, to say the very least. By the time season 3 is over with, we’ll have a name for her “talent,” even if we don’t have all the answers to our questions.
But one question we would definitely like answered is whether or not there are more people like Lydia. There’s got to be, right? And if so, wouldn’t that make great grounds for a film?
Just imagine that the team runs into the Biggest Bad they’ve ever come across. Somehow they find out that Lydia isn’t the only one with mysterious talents, and in order to bring down their enemy, they have to find more of them. It would not only make for an exciting movie, but it would allow us to explore more of the Teen Wolf universe’s mythology.
5. The kids grow up.
While the irony of Teen Wolf no longer featuring a teenage werewolf is not lost on us, we can’t deny this would give Teen Wolf: The Movie an interesting twist.
Imagine Scott grown up and living with Allison. Stiles is an FBI agent. Lydia teaches mathematics at a university. Derek still lurks, though everyone has gotten used to it by now.
The point is, they all still live in and around Beacon Hills, but now they’ve got families, careers, lives. Yet, not much else has changed. They still hang out, and weird stuff still happens to them.
Only now they’re not kids. Stiles has the power of the Bureau behind him, even if he can’t officially report everything he sees. Allison and Scott have accepted their who and what they are. Lydia not only has the brains to help them solve their crimes, but the resources too. And Derek finally has a strong and healthy pack.
It would be fun to see everyone grown up and settled down, even if they haven’t quite moved on. By now these guys would be pros at fighting the supernatural baddies, and it would allow the story to get crazier and scarier — something that would be well suited for the big screen.
