After squashing rumors of a summer tour, 98 Degrees will be reuniting for one show.
Nick and Drew Lachey broke the news on On Air with Ryan Seacrest Wednesday morning, telling the radio host that the boy band would perform at the Summer Mixtape Festival in Hershey, Pa., Aug. 18.
“We all miss the rush of being on stage together, performing together, and certainly the fans have kind of been clamoring for it, so it just felt right,” Nick told Seacrest. “We always said we were not broken up, we were just taking a break and now it just seemed like the right time to put everything back together.”
Earlier this year, there were rumors that the band was going on tour this summer, but Nick quickly dispelled them. Touring isn’t completely out of the question, though.
“Let’s be honest, there’s nothing better for your ego than standing up on stage and having thousands of girls screaming for you,” Drew said. “It does become kind of addictive and we always had a blast touring together and making music together, but we are 4 grown men now. Most of us have families or kids on the way, so it really is about making sure that everybody can take care of their own responsibilities at home, and with their family, and with their private lives. If we can get together and do more that would be great. We’ve missed working with each other, performing together. So, we’re always open to that opportunity.”
