The 2015 Golden Globe nominees were announced during a ceremony in Beverly Hills Thursday morning.
Lesser known projects (in other words, not-so-mainstream) took up many of the nomination spaces this year. For example, FX’s Fargo led the television nominations with five, while True Detective came in second with four nominations. On the film side, Birdman had the most nominations with seven, followed by Boyhood and The Imitation Game each with five.
One of the most notable absences in the list this year is Modern Family, who had been nominated for the past four years in a variety of comedy categories. The voters decided to instead shine a light on new projects like The CW’s excellent Jane the Virgin and Amazon’s new original series Transparent.
Interestingly, Bill Murray, Mark Ruffalo, and Julianne Moore were nominated for two different projects each – a rare accomplishment during awards season.
