The first still from the Divergent sequel Insurgent was released today on the film’s official Facebook page.
Update: The film’s official Twitter account has confirmed that a new trailer for Insurgent will arrive on Friday, December 12. Plus, the second still has been released!

In terms of first looks, it doesn’t get better than this: Four (Theo James) leads Tris (Shailene Woodley) and Caleb (Ansel Elgort) as they run through a field with weapons in hand.
They’re definitely not in the heart of Chicago’s concrete jungle. Take a look at the full photo below:
Attached to the photo, Insurgent’s Facebook page is teasing that something is coming a week from today. “Brace yourselves, Initiates… Friday 12/12,” their caption reads.
Could it be a new Insurgent trailer? Considering the first teaser trailer depicted a sequence that only takes place inside of Tris’ head, and the film is just three months from being released, it seems like the odds of a new trailer coming soon are pretty high.
As we wrote last month, the first Insurgent teaser trailer was less-than-stellar. The scene was a bizarre introduction to the sequel because it doesn’t make much sense: Why is Tris’ mom “alive”? Why is the city in ruins? Why is this so CGI heavy? It may’ve been so confusing that it didn’t make people want to learn the answers.
Summit may be planning to drop a new trailer just in time for the release of The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, which opens in theaters on Wednesday, December 17.
We’d love to see some footage from the story itself – like the sequence depicted above where Tris, Four, and Caleb are on the run.
While we wait, we’ll continue staring at this great photo.
