Sony has released the first official image of actor Dane DeHaan as the Green Goblin in The Amazing Spider-Man 2.
Sony has been releasing loads of trailers and clips from The Amazing Spider-Man sequel, along with an official website called Enemies Unite.
It featured a trailer which gave us some of the best footage available, as it gives fans an extended look at the Spider-Man sequel and more specifically its villains.
Speaking of villains, today we have the first official image of actor Dane DeHaan as the Green Goblin in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. While we’ve seen shots of him in the trailer, this is our first great look of the character in high resolution.
DeHaan is battling Spider-Man atop some gears which have been featured quite a bit in the film’s trailers and it could be where the film’s final battle is fought. Click on the image below to view it in HD (via TotalFilm):
The look of the Green Goblin has seen some backlash, as it appears as though Harry Osborn’s face is quite distorted. Now that we’re getting a much better look at him, it does seem as though he’s gone through a serious transformation by the time he’s battling Spider-Man.
This will most likely be at the hands of his father who is played by Chris Cooper. Norman Osborn was deathly ill in the first film and from trailers it seems he isn’t getting any better. Somehow Harry will be turned against Spider-Man, forcing him to use OsCorp technology, which disfigures him while increasing his strength.
There have been reports that a villain spinoff is in the works, but we can’t imagine the Green Goblin will be the main focus of any of the sequels. We shouldn’t forget that Spider-Man will also be battling Electro, who is supposedly the main villain of The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Not to mention actor Paul Giamatti plays The Rhino, yet another villain included in the film.
Spider-Man sure does have his hands full in this sequel, so we’ll be interested to see how the plot holds up to multiple villains being included.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 release date is set for May 2, 2014. Stars Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone will be returning as Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy, Jamie Foxx (Electro) will also be in the film, along with Sally Fields, Dane DeHaan, Paul Giamatti, and Colm Feore.
