What’s new in The Walking Dead season 4, hitting television screens this October? Let comic creator Robert Kirkman explain.
In a new interview released on AMC’s official blog, Kirkman explains what will be fresh about The Walking Dead season 4 compared to season 3:
“I can argue that this season has a higher level of optimism than the show has had thus far, so that gives me something to look forward to,” he said. “And also I’ll say that when you get to Season 4 on a show, especially a show like The Walking Dead, you realize that you’ve been around for a while and people may start to think, ‘I’ve got this show figured out. I know how they do things on this show.’ And a tremendous amount of effort has been put towards keeping the audience guessing and doing newer and more interesting things and changing what The Walking Dead is, in a way that’s very true to everything that people love about The Walking Dead but that brings in a lot of very cool new and unexpected elements.”

Kirkman’s comments about “keeping the audience guessing” are in line with recent reports about a new threat from the zombies coming in season 4. The threat is evident in the just-released trailer (link above) where we see the survivors at the prison fighting off zombies who are able to penetrate the fence. They also discover that someone was able to enter into the prison undetected.
The Walking Dead season 4 premieres on Sunday, October 13.
