The big retailers are ready to sell you a copy of J.K. Rowling’s new book The Cuckoo’s Calling.
Rowling revealed that she was the author behind The Cuckoo’s Calling on July 13, and immediate demand was so strong that retailers couldn’t keep up.
The book was available in very limited numbers because it was merely the first book from “debut author.” Many Barnes & Noble’s, for example, only had four copies per store.
Now, the book’s second print run is in the hand of retailers.
Barnes & Noble sent out an e-mail this morning letting readers know that The Cuckoo’s Calling is now in stock. A check of Amazon indicates that they too are ready to ship J.K. Rowling’s surprise book immediately.
The Cuckoo’s Calling was severely unavailable in the days following Rowling’s announcement. Libraries had waiting lists with hundreds of people each, while sites like Amazon listed waits of two weeks and beyond.
Publisher, Little Brown, had announced that in light of the announcement they were ramping up a second print run with 300,000 copies. The new edition of the book, which initially hit store shelves in April, will now note that Robert Galbraith is a pseudonym for J.K. Rowling in the author bio section.
Retailers have also marked down the price of The Cuckoo’s Calling. Previously available for around $25, the book is now priced at around $15.
