Community creator Dan Harmon has announced that he is returning to the show for season 5!
After accidentally making the announcement during a recording of his podcast last week, Harmon took to Twitter this morning to officially announce he’s returning for Community season 5.

That tweet came after a series of other tweets where Harmon brainstormed ideas for Community season 5:
Returning to Community, Day One: Hiring of directors hindered by an apparent promise from Sony to Jason Alexander. My deal: not yet closed.

Here are my “deal breakers” coming back to Community:Rhonda Robinson on props. Denise Pizzini on design. Ruthie Aslan in post. Tell Sony.

Also I would very much like it if @joelmchale @yvettenbrown @gillianjacobs @alisonbrie @dannypudi and @donaldglover were somehow involved.

An announcement about Harmon’s return for Community season 5 has not been formally announced by NBC at this time. He likely decided to make the announcement after all the pressure on Twitter.
Harmon had left Community in May of last year after creative differences, including tension between him and Chevy Chase. NBC renewed the show for a fifth season, in a surprising move to everyone, on May 10.
