Philip Seymour Hoffman has revealed that he entered a rehab program last week after abusing drugs including heroin.
Hoffman was at the clinic on the east coast for a 10-day period, which ended on Friday. After suffering from drug abuse over two decades ago, the actor started again with prescription pills last year which then escalated to a bout of snorting cocaine for several days. It was at that point he realized that rehab was needed immediately.
All is well now, however. The actor has returned to Europe where he is currently filming a movie. In a statement to TMZ, Hoffman credited, “A great group of friends and family” for the decision to enter rehab and the successful recovery. We’re glad to hear the rehab took such a short amount of time!
Hoffman will star in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire as Plutarch Heavensbee. The first trailer for The Hunger Games sequel heavily featured Hoffman speaking with President Snow. Watch below to see Hoffman work his brilliant and eerie acting magic:
The movie opens in theaters November 22.
Outside of The Hunger Games world, Hoffman is best known for his roles in Doubt, The Master, and Mission: Impossible III.
Thanks, TMZ.
