Lost‘s Josh Holloway has signed on to star in the new CBS drama pilot Intelligence, which is based on John Dixon’s novel Dissident.
Deadline has learned that Holloway, who is perhaps best known for playing James ‘Sawyer’ Ford in ABC’s Lost, has landed the lead role in the pilot, which is being developed for CBS.
Intelligence is based on the (unpublished) novel Dissident by John Dixon. It follows an agent at the U.S. Cyber Command who has a microchip implanted in his brain which allows him to process information like a computer. Holloway will play Gabriel Black, an intelligence officer who formerly served as a Navy SEAL.
Michael Seitzman (writer of North Country) and Tripp Vinson (The Number 23, Journey to the Center of the Earth producer) are producing the pilot, with David Semel directing. Semel has directed episodes for a staggering amount of television drama series including Buffy, Angel, Heroes, Dawson’s Creek, and most recently American Horror Story: Asylum and Homeland – so we’d say the pilot is in good hands!
Once CBS has seen and reviewed the episode, a decision will be made about whether or not to develop the story into a full season.
Do you think this is a good role for Josh Holloway? Does the concept of this series intrigue you?
So far, it sounds like a mix between Person of Interest and Chuck, with a healthy dose of Alias thrown in – we approve!
