Legend of Korra star Janet Varney blurs the line between fact and fiction in a video (well worth watching for any Legend of Korra fan) announcing her attendance at Houston’s Anime Mastsuri convention later this year.
Janet Varney, the voice of the title character on Nickelodeon’s popular cartoon series The Legend of Korra, will be attending this year’s Anime Matsuri convention in Houston. The announcement comes from a video released by the convention in which Varney, calling from “Republic City,” asks convention organizer Deneice if benders are welcome at the event… and things get even better from there. Check out the full video announcement right here:
Even for fans who cannot attend the convention, it’s great to hear Janet Varney embrace her inner Korra once again. Varney’s enthusiasm for The Legend of Korra is frequently apparent on her Twitter account and it’s heartening to hear her embracing the role in an extra-curricular capacity, as it were. (And it did give us a bit of a thrill to hear her excitedly yell out “Fire Ferrets!”)
Varney will be attending Anime Matsuri on Friday, March 29, where she will be taking photos and signing autographs. (We hope to hear that Varney might appear on a panel or two to discuss The Legend of Korra, but the event’s panel schedule has not yet been released.) For more information on the convention, check out its website at AnimeMatsuri.com.
Meanwhile, fans of The Legend of Korra can hold onto the possibility that the show may return in April, shortly after the convention. While speculative, it seems solid enough to go on as The Legend of Korra initially premiered in April 2012. If and when Nickelodeon sees fit to assure us hungry fans of the show’s return, we will let you know as soon as is Hypably possible.
