- Coming Soon announced that Ghostbusters 3 will begin shooing in summer 2013, with a likely 2014 release date. Tropic Thunder writer Etan Cohen is writing the script for the third installment, and it will relolve around a younger generation of ghostbusters. Ivan Reitman is returning as a director, but Bill Murray will not take part in the film.
- Ewan McGregor will be joining Kate Hudson in the upcoming film Born to Be King, Variety reports. McGregor will play the part of a movie extra who has a striking resemblance to a celebriety and crosses paths with a huge movie star, Hudson, who is in a “feud” with the film’s co-star. Naturally, romantic interest develops. Peter Capaldi (The Thick of It) is writing and directing.
- Mark Bomback (Wolverine, Live Free or Die Hard) has been hired to re-write Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, which is the sequel to the 2011 remake of the classic film. THR states a few writers have already worked on the sequel’s script, including Rises‘ Amanda Silver and Rick Jaffa, but after the new director Matt Reeves came on board, he wanted something new.
- Variety reports that a film based from the comic “Family Circus” is in the works! The comic strip was started by Bil Keane in 1960, and in recent years, has been drawn by his son, Jeff Keane. Fox and Walden Media are producing, and they’ve hired writers Nichole Millard and Kathryn Price to taken on the script.
