Today’s movie round-up features a bit of casting and directing news, including Michelle Williams being eyed for a WWII-era romantic film, Matt Damon’s next film, and a bit of news on the Chronicle 2 script!
- Michelle Williams is rumored to star in Saul Dibb’s (The Dutchess) upcoming film, Suite Francais, set in WWII. If Williams is confirmed in the role, she would play “a spirited young woman in occupied France who falls for a German officer and must choose between love and her country.” Dibb is both directing and writing the screenplay. - Rupert Sanders, best known for directing Snow White and the Huntsman (and for the scandal with Kristen Stewart earlier this year) may not be returning to film a sequel to Huntsman. Instead, Universal is exploring the option of Sanders direcing Van Helsing starring Tom Cruise. [Indie Wire]
- John Landis stated that his son, Max Landis, wrote a script for Chronicle 2, which Fox isn’t a big fan of. The sequel is “the evolution” from the first film, but the studio wants the script more similar to the original film. [Indie Wire]
- Matt Damon and Terry Gilliam are working together for the first time since The Brother’s Grimm in the upcoming flick The Zero Theorem. Damon stated he needs to shave his head and wear a wig for Gilliam’s film [Indie Wire]
- A biopic of legendary actor Errol Flynn is in the works with Kevin Kline to portray Flynn. The Last of Robin Hood will follow Flynn and his relationship with a 17-year-old actress in his last days before he died of a heart attack at the age of 50. Flynn is best known for starring as the title role in the 1938 film, The Adventures of Robin Hood. [Variety]
