Comedy network Comedy Central has announced that their next roast special will feature Roseanne Barr, former star of Roseanne.
The program will be taped August 4 in Los Angeles and then air on Comedy Central August 12. The network’s head of original programming and production had this to stay about roasting Roseanne:
“Although Roseanne appears to be a demure, soft spoken woman eternally committed to the status quo, we believe under the surface is an explosive, trail-blazing cultural revolution. We are honored to Roast her. Celebrating Roseanne’s unprecedented achievements in comedy and television will surely inspire us to make this Roast more reminiscent of the classic roasts, where the intimacy of friends jousting with each other came through.”
The actress herself also commented on the news, saying, “All I can say is good luck finding anything about me to make fun of… I mean, I’ve never made a mistake or offended anyone in my life!”
Comedians who will roast Roseanne have not yet been announced.
Roseanne ran from 1988-1997 on ABC and co-starred John Goodman. The two stars will reunite for a new comedy Downwardly Mobile, currently in development for NBC.
