Stanley Weber, Robert Cavanah, and possibly Dominique Piñon have joined the Outlander cast for season 2.
Stanley Weber is best known to English speaking audiences for his portrayal of Juan Borgia in the show Borgias (not to be confused with the Showtime hit with a similar name). A native of France, Weber will be portraying, according to E!, Le Comte St. Germain.
Robert Cavanah, according to Access Hollywood, will play Jared Fraser. He has appeared in many British TV series and soaps ranging from Emmerdale, to Silent Witness, to Casualty. American audiences will recognize him for his role in the Showtime hit, The Borgias, where he played Hernando De Caballos.
Cavangah last posted to his Twitter account in late April and early May. In April he stated, “In honour of Louise, am hurtling southbound again after a cossie fitting for the next gig.” Then, in May, he posted the following tweet with the location given as Edinburgh, Scotland (Edit: That tweet was deleted 45 minutes after this article posted). We don’t know for sure if this is related to Outlander, but we would bet it is. We are guessing that he’ll play Master Raymonde?
Great first day, but most inspired to meet the brilliant Dominique Piñon! DelicaGenius! X

Weber took to his official Twitter account to state:
New Project… New Face… Hello Scotland #Glasgow @ Glasgow Central Station https://t.co/sAj1IMdMkA

Weber also posted the below photo to his Instagram account stating, “New Project… New Face… Hello Scotland #Glasgow #Outlander.”
As readers of the Outlander novels are aware, Le Comte St. Germain (pronounced Lay-compt-sahn-jer-mahn), is a wine merchant who is a competitor of Jamie’s (Sam Heughan) cousin, Jared Fraser. Jared is the relative that Claire and Jamie set sail to meet with in the season finale. In France, Claire (Caitriona) and St. Germain meet in an unusual way, and they don’t exactly get off on the right foot together.
Outlander has begun filming both in their studios outside of Glasgow and at a waterfront location, Dysart Harbor in Fife. Both Weber’s and Cavanah’s castings were likely just announced because they will be filming at this site. It would be difficult, if not impossible, to keep their presence under wraps with eagle-eyed fans observing the filming.

So far there has been no other news on casting other than of the animal kind. Fans are eagerly awaiting the news of who has been cast as Brianna and Roger, not to mention Fergus and Lord John Grey.
During a recent Twitter Q&A, executive producer Ron Moore confirmed that neither Roger nor Brianna have yet been cast. On the other hand he did state other pivotal roles have been cast, but he leaves all casting announcements up to Starz and Sony (obviously one of those was Weber).
As fans of the show realize, a good portion of next season will take place in France, specifically Paris. The interiors for France will largely be filming in the Scottish studios; however, the exteriors will be filming in Scotland, the South of England, and Prague. Moore stated, “Season Two is more complicated to adapt because Book Two is complicated. More political, moving to Paris, etc… We’re off to a good start. Sets and costumes are amazing and the cast has settled into the new story… We’ll be shooting a lot of things out of sequence this year for logistical/budgetary reasons.”
With Comic-Con on the horizon in early July, it’s likely that the show will reveal both the new cast and first-look footage at that event.
Edited: To identify Jared as Jamie’s cousin rather than uncle.
