Dexter season 8 may have unveiled its plot, but Michael C. Hall has described the final season to focus on what Dexter “leaves behind.” Could this be Debra?
Dexter season 8 will be focusing on what Dexter “leaves behind” according to Michael C. Hall in an interview within one of Showtime’s promotional videos. The video piece itself focuses on the rise of Debra Morgan within the show, titling the promotion material, “From Cop to Killer.”
The video is a really decent insight to Debra’s mind, with Jennifer Carpenter, Michael C. Hall, James Remar and Scott Buck all on hand to help us accomodate with the evolution of Debra Morgan.
Yes, Debra has a mouth on her, and yes, Debra has grown to become an amazing cop throughout the seasons, but the video gives a bit of life to the final season of Dexter during the final minute of the teaser.
Dexter season 8: “From Cop to Killer”
We’ve got ourselves some new footage on Dexter and Debra’s relationship, but as Hall says in the interview, “Dexter feels a sense of responsibility for what’s happened to Deb.”
Hall continues, “This season is about what Dexter is going to leave behind [and] a lot of that is wrapped up in his relationship with his sister, because, there is a direct connection between how Deb feels about him and his overall legacy.”
It’s a fascinating quote from Hall as Showtime continues to tease fans with more scenes of Dexter and Deb’s relationship seemingly at an all time low, with Debra saying, “I wake up every day thinking of every bad decision I ever made because of you” in a tense stand-off with Dexter.
Could Dexter “leave behind” Debra? The promotional piece is all about Debra, and with a quote directly implanted within the context, could we assume such a dark, cryptic connection? Could he really kill his sister?
Dexter returns to Showtime on June 30.
