Breakout actor Jason Clarke, who was most recently seen as a CIA agent in the political thriller Zero Dark Thirty, has excitingly been cast in the upcoming 2014 film Dawn of the Planet of the Apes!

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes will be set 15 years after the 2011 film, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, which starred James Franco. Matt Reeves will direct Mark Bomback’s script.  Peter Chernin, Dylan Clarke, Amanda Silver and Rick Jaffa are all producing. We’re not sure yet what part Clarke will play.

While not many details are revealed on the film, THR states the sequel will follow two plot lines:

One focus is on the group of human scientists who are struggling to survive alone in San Francisco. Another aspect of the story is the struggle of intelligent ape Caesar, played by a returning Andy Serkis, to maintain dominance over his kingdom.

Before Bomback was hired, a few writers worked on the sequel’s script, including Rises‘ Amanda Silver and Rick Jaffa, but after Reeves came on board, he wanted something new and hired Bomback.

Clarke has made some notable appearances recently, including the 2010 film Wall Street: Money Never SleepsLawless, and he’ll also be seen next year in Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby as George Wilson, and in Roland Emmerich’s thriller White House Down.
